Hey dudes,

How are you goin' in Germany? I hope everyone is damn fine...I am :-)
It's been a while since my last update but I just didn't have time as I was so busy with Uni stuff.
But now, Uni is over, all assignments are written and submitted...just the exams are about to come soon :-(
I'll have my exams on 22nd, 24th and 26th of November. I'm not soooo worried about most of them, eventhough one of them is going to be pretty hard. But yeah, that's life...I'll manage it. But it's so hard to study when it's beautiful weather outside. I wanna go to the beach, sit on the river or do other fun things as summer has finally arrived now :-) It's quite impossible to study in my room since my A/C is not working. Due to the fact that I'm living on the second floor (under the roof), it's so incredibly hot in my room...even hotter than outside!!! But the last few days have been way cooler so I was finally able to get some work done.
What else has happened since my last update? I've been to some amazing parties, the zoo, to the Wildlife Park again, I went to a Adelaide United FC soccer match, celebrated Halloween and so on. Was a great time!!! Of course I uploaded some pics of what I've done over the last couple of weeks. As usual, just click on pics and enjoy the show of my life Down Under :-)

Furthermore, we already booked our flights to Cairns where we are going to start our East Coast Trip at the end of this month. After Cairns, we will drive down to Airlie Beach to enter a boat which will take us on a 2-day sailing trip to and around Whitsunday Island and the Great Barrier Reef...probably one of the most beautiful places on this earth :-)

Whitsunday Island

Whiteheaven Beach

I'm so looking forward to snorkel or even scuba-dive at the Great Barrier Reef to explore the sensational underwater world of Australia :-)

That is what I will hopefully see there :-)

After having had a great time on the boat, we'll continue our trip to Fraser Island. Another awesome place to be...We will stay there for 3 Days: relaxing, camping and exploring the island with a 4WD Jeep. It's gonna be soooo good :-)
Already envious? I guess so *lol*

Then we're heading further down to Brisbane, Byron Bay and Surfers Paradise to spend some more gorgeous days in Australia. Finally we will head to Sydney to celebrate Christmas at the beach (I still don't know how that works...isn't it meant to be snowing at Christmas??) before we will leave this wonderful country by the end of December...some go straight back to home, some (e.g. me) are going to celebrate New Year's Eve in Hongkong before returning to Germany at the beginning of January.

But after showing you the great part of this post now, the sad part has to be mentioned as well :-(
I just can't believe that 4 1/2 months flew by so fast...I really feel as if I just arrived here some weeks ago. I've met so many nice people here, I made friendships that will last forever and I learned a lot about myself...To make it short: I just had the time of my life.
And now, I have just 2 more weeks to go till I'm leaving Adelaide and most of my friends. That's so sad...and somehow unbelievable! But well, that's life...and I have to deal with it. But I'm sure coming here was the best decision I've ever made!

Now, I just make sure to make the best out of the last few weeks, eventhough I have some exams to write...

That's all I have to say for the moment. It might be the last update as I don't think I will be able to update the page during exams. But maybe I'll post a final update with all the pics from our East Coast Trip when I am back in Germany. So, keep on checking the page out every now and then if you are interested in what I have experienced while travelling the Australian East Coast.

I hope the weather isn't too bad in Germany and the snow holds back for a long while.
I'm looking forward seeing you guys when I'm back at home :-) Miss u!

Take care and have a good one!

Cheers,
André

G'day mates,

there you go with the overdue update of my life down under.
Sorry, that I haven´t updated the site for so long but I was incredibly busy before the break (had to hand in some assignments)...and during the break I was travelling. But now you will get a shitload full of nice stories and pics of what I've done over the last few weeks.
First of all, I have shocking news: our huge flatscreen TV has been stolen (most of you might already know)! I don´t know how it happened...I just know that it is gone. I guess it was stolen by one of the girls' (our so called "housemates") friends...but you never know! I haven't watched TV a lot...but sometimes it would just be nice to relax in front of the TV for some minutes :-(

Besides that, I celebrated my first birthday down under...and it was a good one. I was really overwhelmed how many people came just because of me :-) That was one of the best birthdays I ever had. Thanks again guys for coming :-) I uploaded some pics of that night in Griffins Head (Pub). The special thing was that Sam celebrated her birthday the day after mine...so as soon as my Bday was over at midnight, Sam took over the wheel for her bday party. That was so much fun and we had an awesome time :-)

Then, after finishing my assignments, the well-deserved mid-semester break came. We left Adelaide at Saturday 20th September to go on the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne. First, we had a 3-day guided bus tour on the Great Ocean Road where we went to some sights, National Parks and a rainforest. On the way we stopped in the city where Ripcurl and Billabong are located (can´t remember the name). We were given some time to go shopping in the various surf outlet stores there...it was sooooo cool and I bought some new pieces that make me look more Australian than ever before *lol*
After this tour, we stayed in Melbourne for 4 days with the whole crew. We partied a lot, but did some sightseeing and shopping as well. It was an amazing trip as Melbourne is a great city...I love it!

Melbourne Skyline

The best thing was that I met with my buddy from Adidas, Jonathan (I met him during my internship in Germany), who is from Melbourne. Was so cool to see him again :-)
After an awesome week of fun, we flew back to Adelaide by plane...and to be honest we kinda missed Adelaide eventhough Melbourne is a cool city. But we missed the familiarity of good old Adelaide as Melbourne is way bigger and more busy than Adelaide. I was a feeling like coming home. Before that I didnt realize how much I love Adelaide...I consider it my Australian HOME now :-)

After chilling in Adelaide for the weekend, we went to our next trip on monday 29th of September. Destination: Flinders Ranges, Outback!

The crew

We picked up our 8-seater van in the morning and went shopping with the whole crew. After having congested our car with loads of food and alcohol, we started the trip. It felt so good to drive again, I missed it...no matter if we had to drive on the wrong side of the road *lol*...you get used to it pretty soon. Literally, the outback started about 20km out of Adelaide. We drove the highway A1 almost straight for 400km...it was an awesome feeling to drive in the middle of nowhere. Our destination was Hawker, a little 480 people village in the central Flinders Ranges. After a fun-packed road trip with some photo-stops on the way, we finally arrived in Hawker where we had booked a little cabin on a camping ground. In the evening, we celebrated Matt's Bday with a nice BBQ and surprised him with a nice cake and a German dictionary (as he always hangs out with the Germans...that is why we are called "Team Germerica"). He was so happy...
The following days we undertook some hikes, saw some Aborigine paintings and went to the Flinders Ranges National Park where we met some cute kangaroos and Emu's...some of them dead, some of them alive!
After 3 great days we left the outback to go back to Adelaide. We had so much fun and we took a lot of pics which you will see later. The best thing was that the group was really harmonic and no quarrelling took place.
After arriving back in Adelaide, we partied for Matt's Bday with all the others that missed our little party in the outback at Pj's...like every thursday *lol*

All in all I have to say that the break was an awesome time in which I have seen a lot of Australia. Especially the outback was an experience that everyone should gain while being in Australia...it was amazing:-)
Summer really has started now...the days are so pretty, sun is shining...everything is perfect. I´m so happy to be here, it´s such a lovely place :-) I hope the weather is not too bad in Germany...even if autumn is coming with huge steps.

But now the daily routine comes back soon...I don´t want uni to continue :-( After the break, I have to write 3 more assignments this month...so I should start soon :-(

Tonight, we´re going to Ministry of Sound in Adelaide's biggest club, the HQ...I hope this will be a good night to say goodbye to the holidays with all my friends :-)

I have posted some pics of parties and my Bday, the Great Ocean Road and Melbourne and our trip to the outback. Access them as usual under pics on the right side of this page.

I hope the next update of the site will come soon...I promise to try keeping the site up-to-date!
That's it for now...if you have any questions or if you miss me, don´t hesitate to drop me some lines to bauer_andre@gmx.de.

Take care!

Greeting from Down Under,
André

Hey mates,

how's it going back in Good Ol' Germany? I hope you're doing great over there. I´m feeling great...and I love Australia:-)

First of all: sorry, that I didn't update the site for so long...but I was way too busy.
But now, I have a little bit more time as I finished my first 3 assignments last week. What a relief...Not sure whether they have been good or not...but well, at least they are done. But unfortunately the next one is due in 2 weeks, so I can't relax that much.
Next week will be a pretty hard one cos Sam, Chris and me are celebrating our birthdays...so it's gonna be a week full of party. I hope I can get my assignment done during this week anyway...I just have to. I think I'm gonna celebrate my Bday in Griffin's Head which is our favourite pub for tuesday night's...should be fun I guess :-)

Besides that, the weather is getting better and better...but still is not good. But at least it stopped raining. I´m sure it´ll be warm soon. It should be cos we're going to our first surf course next sunday...looking so much forward to it cos it will be heaps of fun I guess :-) Even if the water will be freezing cold...

What else? Hmmm...Yeah, I went to my first footy match on Saturday 23rd. It was funny cos Footy (Australian Rules Football) is such a weird game. But it was fun to see something different...but to be honest, I still prefer Soccer or Rugby :-)
After the Footy match, we went to the legendary U-Ball at the Hilton Hotel which was organized by the University. It was awesome... We had to wear suits and ties and stuff...and we just looked gorgeous :-)
We had a red carpet and a Hummer stretch limo ride, free drinks and food (well, was included in the $45 entrance fee)...and a lot of fun :-)

Tomorrow, my crew will meet to discuss our travel plans for the second week of holidays. We're thinking about renting a car and driving to the Outback or at least to Flinder's Ranges. But yeah, we will see where the adventure guides us :-) But one is for sure: it´s gonna be a blast.

This time I have some more pics for you guys. As usual, just click on "Pics" and you will see loads of new and exciting pics of my life Down Under.
I posted 3 different albums with pics of 1) my party crowd, 2) the U-Ball and 3) the Footy match for you.
Enjoy them, there are some pretty good ones among them :-)

That's it for today. I hope I have some more news and pics for you soon.

I miss you guys!!

Take care,
André

Hey mates,

there u go with another update of my life in Adelaide.
Another week of Uni is over now...time flies by so fast.
The first assignments are due soon...and I still haven´t even started to work on them *damn*. But yeah, that´s life...

Yesterday, we finally booked our 5-day-trip to Melbourne / Great Ocean Road...I´m so much looking forward to that. We (me and 15 friends) will go there in our mid-semester break which starts at September 20th. We´ll drive the Great Ocean Road for 3 days and afterwards we gonna stay in Melbourne for at least two more days. Will be fun!
To make you a bit jealous, here are some pics what the trip might look like:

In Adelaide, it is raining sooooo much at the moment, I just hate it. South Australia is the driest state on earth and it is supposed to be in the middle of a drought...at least that is what I´ve been told...haha, is that a joke?! It rains almost every day...not too nice :-( But well, I think it´ll get warmer soon...looking forward to enjoy the spring in Australia.

Besides that, we´ll go to a big houseparty, hosted by Matt my American friend, tonight. Should be fun...we´ll party hardy as usuall I guess :-)

And tomorrow I have to study as I have my first tutorial test on Monday...Market Analysis. So keep your fingers crossed for me! But shouldn´t be too hard I guess.

By the way, I finally uploaded some pics of my new home for you. Some pics are not the best ones but for the moment they´re okay. As usual, just click on "pics"...

That´s it for now. Enjoy your holidays back home, relax or just have fun whatever you do. I hope you guys already miss me a bit *lol*...

Talk to you soon,
take care...

Cheers,
André

Hey guys,

what´s up in Germany? Here, everything is going pretty well.
On monday, I finally moved into my new place, jihaaa :-) It´s so great that I can finally feel at home now. The shitty thing was that the house didn´t have internet so far...which is horrible. But fortunately we got the internet working now after running from shop to shop the whole last week...but we finally made it, yeah!
I´ll post some pics of my new house as soon as I made some...won´t take that long I guess.

Besides that, Uni started last week. The Uni is huge and really well equipped...it´s a cool place to study. It even has a gym where I can work out every once in a while :-)
But Uni itself won´t be too easy...unfortunately. The contents are not too difficult, it´s more the workload that will drive me crazy. I really didn´t expect it to be that stressful to be honest. In my Market Analysis course we will write tests every week...doesn´t sound to good. And in B2B-Marketing we even get marked for what we say in the tutorials. And if you miss a tutorial you´ll get 0 points for this weeks tutorial...that sucks! Furthermore, I have to write 8 (yeah, the number is correct: EIGHT!!!) assignments during the semester...the first one is due in 3 weeks :-(
As it would be my last semester in Germany, I thought it might be a pretty relaxed one here as well...especially cos a semester abroad is not supposed to be that stressful, hehe. At least in my mind *lol* But well, it will be a hell lot of work...but I´ll manage it, no worries.
Nevertheless, even if Uni will be hard, I hope we can do some little trips at the weekends to discover our new "home" a bit.

As usual, I posted some new pics (just click on "pics"). They were taken in Bars, Wildlife Parks...or just somewhere in and around Adelaide. Have fun with´em...

I´m outta here now guys. Enjoy the rest of the summer back home...while I´m looking forward to summer starting in Australia, hehe.

Take care...

Cheers,
André

Hey guys,

there you go with the next update of my life Down Under.
Basically, everything is allright here...I found so many new friends from all over the world (well, unfortunately a lot of them are Germans...). We party a lot, have lots of fun and enjoying our time in the last week before University starts. I really don´t wanna go to Uni...but well, that´s what I´m supposed to be here for :-p

On thursday, we went to Victor Harbor with all the international students which is a great spot to hang out and take some awesome pics of the landscape and the ocean. As soon as I get all those nice pics of our trip, I´ll post them here...just to make you a bit jealous :-)

What else is new: after one week in my first own apartment in Adelaide, I´m going to move out again in the next few days...as I found a better place to stay:-) In the new house I´ll be living together with 4 Australians, 2 Germans and 1 Swedish guy...should be a great combination. The house is pretty new and fabulously furnished...I just love this place. As soon as I moved in, I´ll take some pics to show you...
This time I just post some pics of my current home and the neighbourhood I´m living in at the moment (as usual, just click on "pics"...).

That´s it for the moment, take care and have a great time back in Good Ol´Germany.

Cheers,
André

Hey mates,

howz goin´(aussie slang, hehe...) back in Germany? Here everything goes pretty well...and I found a pretty nice place to stay. It´s a big house with a pool, a poolhouse which is our living room (+ additional kitchen and bathroom in it) and a backyard...I live there with 5 other students but I haven´t met all of them so far. It´s nothing special but compared to the other apartments I´ve visited, this is a pretty good one.
And that´s why I´m so happy that I have my own place to stay now cos I´m so fed up with living in Hostels right now...it gets kind of annoying if you have to share your room with 5 to 11 other people...that sucks! The house is in a nice suburb called Flinders Park. It´s alongside the river Torrens and it´s like a 10-15 minutes bus ride to the very city center. So not too bad, hehe...

Next week we still have off from classes, so probably I´m going to do some sightseeing or starting some little trips with my friends to explore our new "home". Or just continue partying...as the student parties have been pretty cool so far...Adelaide is a great place to hang around! And everyone is so nice in Australia...incredible!

By the way, I posted some new pics (just click on pics on the right side of the webpage) from the first week in Adelaide...there will be some more coming at a later point of time. So check it out...

I´m trying to settle into my new home now, so talk to you later...

Take care!
Greetings from Adelaide,
André
